01 -
Cook bacon using your preferred method: pan-fry on medium heat until crisp, oven-bake at 200°C for 15–20 minutes, or air-fry at 175°C for 8–10 minutes. Drain on kitchen paper.
02 -
Spread butter or mayonnaise evenly on one side of each bread slice.
03 -
Arrange one slice of cheese on the unbuttered side of a bread slice. Layer with two slices of cooked bacon and an additional slice of cheese. Add optional toppings if desired. Top with a second bread slice, buttered side out.
04 -
Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Place the assembled sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3–5 minutes per side, pressing lightly, until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Optionally, cover for 1 minute to expedite melting.
05 -
Remove from the pan, cut in half, and serve immediately with accompaniments such as tomato soup, pickles, or a fresh salad.
