Bacon Grilled Cheese Sandwich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Sandwich Components

01 - 4 slices sourdough, white, or brioche bread
02 - 4 slices sharp cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, or a combination
03 - 4 slices thick-cut or regular bacon
04 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or mayonnaise, for spreading

→ Optional Add-ons

05 - 1 small tomato, sliced
06 - 0.5 avocado, sliced
07 - 2 tablespoons caramelized onions
08 - 1–2 teaspoons sliced jalapeños

# Instructions:

01 - Cook bacon using your preferred method: pan-fry on medium heat until crisp, oven-bake at 200°C for 15–20 minutes, or air-fry at 175°C for 8–10 minutes. Drain on kitchen paper.
02 - Spread butter or mayonnaise evenly on one side of each bread slice.
03 - Arrange one slice of cheese on the unbuttered side of a bread slice. Layer with two slices of cooked bacon and an additional slice of cheese. Add optional toppings if desired. Top with a second bread slice, buttered side out.
04 - Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Place the assembled sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3–5 minutes per side, pressing lightly, until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Optionally, cover for 1 minute to expedite melting.
05 - Remove from the pan, cut in half, and serve immediately with accompaniments such as tomato soup, pickles, or a fresh salad.

# Notes:

01 - Ensure cheese melts fully by covering the skillet during cooking. For extra crispiness, use day-old bread.
